On 14 September 2026, the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Willemstad hosted a reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Acting Governor of Curaçao Ruthsella, President of Parliament of Aruba Sneek, Vice President of Parliament of Curaçao, several ministers, the Chief of Police and members of parliament, representatives of Dutch government and military institutions stationed in the consular district, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as representatives from all sectors of society and overseas Chinese communities from various islands attended the event, totaling around 200 guests.

Consul General Zhang Kaibin delivered a speech. He reviewed the great achievements of the People's Republic of China over the past 77 years and the glorious course of the Communist Party of China in its 105 years of development. He elaborated on China's Major-Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics, the four Global Initiatives and the spirit of the Global AI Governance Initiative. He stated that the Consulate will actively promote continuous exchanges and cooperation between China and the Dutch Caribbean region. After the speech, Consul General Zhang Kaibin gave a live interview with Curaçao Television.

The reception was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Cultural performances and lion dance presented by the General Association of Chinese in Curaçao, the Chinese Business Association of Curaçao and students from the Chinese school were well received by the guests. Multiple media outlets carried extensive coverage of the reception.
