WHEREAS, about 20% of people, or 66 million Americans, live with a condition that could be considered an invisible or hidden disability; and
WHEREAS, the term invisible disabilities is used to describe disabilities that are not readily apparent based on outward appearance alone; and
WHEREAS, without the obvious signs of disability, people with invisible disabilities are often accused of exaggerating or fabricating their conditions; and
WHEREAS, because these disabilities are not immediately visible, the person's condition may go unacknowledged by others; and
WHEREAS, this lack of acknowledgement often results in limited access to funding, accommodations, medical resources, accurate diagnoses, and overall support;
NOW, THEREFORE, We, Mike DeWine and Jim Tressel, Governor and Lieutenant Governor of the State of Ohio, do hereby recognize October 19-25, 2025
INVISIBLE DISABILITIES WEEK
on this 19th day of October 2025.
