TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has announced plans to expand its all-fiber internet network to additional communities in the southwest Idaho and eastern Oregon region, bringing a new option for internet, phone and TV services to Emmett, Idaho and Ontario, Oregon. This expansion will provide nearly 10,000 local homes and businesses with lightning-fast speeds up to 8 Gigabit.
TDS is a family-operated company with more than 55 years of telecommunications experience. Ontario and Emmett join several other TDS communities in the greater Boise area, including Nampa, Caldwell and Meridian.
"TDS is excited to bring high-speed fiber internet to residents and businesses in the area through this privately funded, multi-million-dollar investment," said Drew Petersen, TDS Telecom Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs. "Fiber internet is the infrastructure communities need to compete, grow and stay connected - whether residents are working from home, students are learning online or businesses are serving customers."
With top speeds up to 8 Gig (symmetrical), TDS' reliable network improves customers' internet experience for business, school and entertainment. The robust connection means customers can download and upload files-regardless of size-nearly instantaneously, making it well suited for commercial customers as well as households with large, shared internet needs.
TDS' TV product, TDS TV®+, features a large selection of networks and channels, cloud DVR, and integration with streaming apps. Customers can also add phone packages and TDS Mobile, which provides 5G nationwide coverage at affordable prices.
Construction start dates in both cities are still be to determined. Network construction will be done in phases, with customers able to connect once work in their neighborhood is completed. Residents will be notified of construction in several ways, including signage and by postcard, letter, and door hanger. Contractors will work to minimize disruptions and restore any areas impacted by the burying of fiber.
