City of Pasadena Opens the 2026 Rental Registration on September 1

PASADENA, Calif. - The City of Pasadena's Rent Stabilization Department (RSD) opens the 2026 Rental Registration cycle on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. All residential rental properties in the City of Pasadena must be registered with the City's Rental Registry, and property owners have until Saturday, October 31, 2026, to complete their registration.

This year's registration comes with a system-wide upgrade, as RSD has refined the Rental Registry portal to guide property owners through registration in five clear steps. The updated portal creates a more streamlined experience, helping users enter property and unit information, review required details, and complete registration more efficiently. The five-step process is as follows:

1. Add Property - Enter the property into the Rental Registry portal.
2. Property Information - Provide ownership and contact details for the property.
3. Unit Information - Add each rental unit to the property or apply for an exemption, if applicable.
4. Review & Submit - Confirm all property and unit information is accurate, certify the data, and submit the registration.
5. Pay & Finish - Complete payment to finalize the registration.

Whether returning for another registration cycle or registering for the first time, owners should have their most current property, unit, tenancy, and rental information available before beginning. Owners can save their progress and return later at any point before the final step. Once a registration is submitted, RSD staff will follow up directly if any further information or action is needed.

Registration is completed through Pasadena's Rental Registry Portal at Bit.ly/PasadenaRentalRegistry.

After submitting registration, owners can complete payment using one of the following methods:

• Online: Pay by credit card or e-check through the Rental Registry portal.
• In person: Pay by check, cash, credit card, or debit card at the City of Pasadena Municipal Services office, 100 N. Garfield Ave., Room N106, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Payments are not accepted at the Rent Stabilization Department office; please bring a copy of your invoice when paying in person.
• By mail: Pay by check. Be sure to include the invoice number, parcel number, and billing period on the check, detach the payment slip, and include it with your payment. Payments must be made in full, as partial payments will not be accepted. If paying by mail, send your check well before October 31 to allow sufficient time for processing.

The deadline to complete the 2026 Rental Registration is October 31, 2026, and the annual registration fee is $236.54 per unit. A seven-day grace period will follow the deadline, with no late fees assessed through November 7, 2026. Registrations completed by November 7 will be charged the annual registration fee only.

Beginning November 8, registrations that remain outstanding will be subject to a late fee on each unit in addition to the $236.54 annual registration fee. The late fee increases based on the length of time the registration remains outstanding.

RSD recommends that owners complete their registration early to help avoid additional fees and allow time to address any questions before the deadline.

RSD will offer several options to help owners complete their registration, including walk-in assistance at locations throughout Pasadena and one-on-one appointments with Rental Registry staff. Owners attending a walk-in session should bring their Rental Registry account login information and the most up-to-date information about their rental unit(s).
