WASHINGTON - Yesterday, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari of Qatar. Secretary Bessent and Minister Al Kuwari discussed Iran's attacks against Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and their regional and global economic impacts.

Secretary Bessent noted the ongoing cooperation between the United States and Qatar and emphasized that the United States seeks to deter future attacks by Iran and to ensure that energy and broader markets are not further impacted. Secretary Bessent also welcomed Qatar's continued investment in the United States, specifically in relation to strengthening energy security.
