ANRPC Secretary-General Dr. Suttipong Angthong Joins UN ESCAP’s CED9 to Champion Sustainable Rubber

BANGKOK, Thailand - Dr. Suttipong Angthong, Secretary-General of the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC), participated in the ninth session of the Committee on Environment and Development (CED9) held in Bangkok from July 1-3, 2026.

Convened by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the ministerial-level meeting focused on addressing the "triple planetary crisis"-climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution-through regional cooperation and integrated policymaking.

For the ANRPC, active engagement in this high-level forum is vital. Representing countries that account for approximately 80% of global natural rubber production, the ANRPC is working to ensure that the industry's transition to sustainable, climate-smart agriculture is reflected in regional policy frameworks.

"Participating in CED9 allows us to align the rubber industry with global environmental goals," said Dr. Suttipong Angthong. "Our priority is to build a resilient, transparent value chain that protects both the environment and the livelihoods of our millions of smallholder farmers."

By collaborating with international organizations and policymakers, the ANRPC aims to harmonize sustainability standards and foster the integrated practices necessary to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As the demand for natural rubber evolves, this engagement reinforces the ANRPC's role in leading the industry toward a sustainable and prosperous future.
