On January 27, He Fen, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Maldives, met with Kristian Hölge, the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for South Asia, upon request.
Hölge highly commended China's contribution to supporting the work of the United Nations and multilateralism, systematically presented the functions and priorities of the UNODC Regional Office for South Asia, and expressed hope to explore trilateral cooperation with China in Maldives to strengthen the country's capacity building in combating corruption, cybercrime, and drug trafficking.
He Fen congratulated Hölge on his new appointment and stated that China advocates and practices true multilateralism and is committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind. China is willing to maintain good cooperative relations with the UNODC, enhance information exchanges, and contribute to the sustainable economic development and long-term social stability of Maldives.
Hölge assumed the role of the new Regional Representative of the UNODC Regional Office for South Asia in September 2025 and is currently on his first visit to Maldives.
