New Traffic Shift on Paddock Avenue Bridge Over Route 15 in Meriden

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a traffic shift to the new portion of the Paddock Avenue Bridge over Route 15 in Meriden. The traffic shift is scheduled to occur on Thursday night, September 18, 2025, and will be in place for approximately a year and a half. The purpose of project 0079-0246, the I-91, I-691, Route 15 Interchange Improvements (Phase Two), is to address traffic operational and safety concerns associated with capacity, congestion, and weaving.

CTDOT Project No. 0079-0246 was awarded to O&G Industries at a cost of $185,000,000 on January 29, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2028. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect the continuation of alternating one-way traffic (on the Paddock Avenue Bridge in Meriden, however, traffic will shift to the newly constructed side of the bridge. The shift is anticipated to take place on Thursday night, September 18, 2025, and continue for a year and a half. Traffic signal control will be in place to guide motorists through the work zone. Note that the temporary sidewalk will shift as well on the outside of the bridge.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
