T Magazine’s New Design Director

I am delighted to announce that Debra Bishop will join T magazine as design director.

Deb has spent her career mastering the architecture of magazines and is one of the most gifted design minds working today - her command of visual architecture and graphic systems lets a magazine feel considered on every page. I've long admired her eye, and I'm thrilled she's joining us. Bringing her on as design director means we can be even more ambitious about how T looks and moves, and I couldn't be more excited to have her judgment in the room. She'll be a close partner to Patrick Li, creative director, and our whole creative team, sharpening the structural and systemic side of our design so our vision can go even further.

She has been at The New York Times for 10 years, most recently serving as director of the design studio for Books and Commerce. Before that, she was the visual lead of The New York Times for Kids, shaping its distinctive visual identity.

"Deb is a singularly talented creative collaborator, designer and art director. It's been an enormous pleasure to work closely alongside her for the last decade," said Caitlin Roper, who started Kids with Deb and worked with her on Books and Commerce.

Deb's work has received wide recognition and has been honored by the Society of Publication Designers, Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club, American Photography, American Illustration, Society of Illustrators, D&AD, and Creative Review. Her extensive experience as an editorial art director, including working on redesigns for publications such as Rolling Stone, House & Garden, Condé Nast Traveler and Esquire will be instrumental in the next phase of T's evolution.

"I'll miss the Store team and the work we've done together. It's been a privilege to be part of such a talented, thoughtful group, and I'm proud of what we've built. At the same time, I'm honored to be joining T magazine and excited to return to my editorial roots. I've missed this kind of work, and it feels wonderful to be coming back to it," she said.

Deb starts her new role today.
