Today, Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs Caleb Orr met with U.S. private sector leaders in New York City to discuss the State Department's ongoing efforts to strengthen U.S. commercial diplomacy. At an event hosted by the Manhattan Institute, Assistant Secretary Orr championed the recent launch of the Commercial Diplomacy Enterprise (CDE) as the latest example of the Department's success in advancing the principles laid out in the President's National Security Strategy.

Since January 20, 2025, the State Department has contributed to over $432 billion in wins for American companies, supporting over 1.2 million U.S. jobs - and the CDE is helping to expand upon and accelerate this success.

The CDE is the U.S. Department of State's new coordinated approach to bolster support for American companies and U.S. economic interests abroad. This initiative aligns existing mechanisms and provides new tools for advancing U.S. commercial diplomacy priorities to deliver more wins for U.S. businesses and, in turn, create more jobs for American workers.

At the Manhattan Institute, Assistant Secretary Orr also announced a new resource on the Office of Commercial and Business Affairs website where U.S. companies can register to receive alerts from the U.S. Department of State on strategic investment opportunities abroad.
