Tuberville Initiates Designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a Terrorist Organization

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) joined U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) in cosponsoring the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act. This bill implements a new modernized strategy for designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group.

"The Muslim Brotherhood is against everything this country stands for," said Sen. Tuberville. "I have been sounding the alarm for months now about the danger that radical Islam poses to our sovereign nation. Designating this evil group as a terrorist organization is a great step towards eradicating Islamic extremism from our country."

"The Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization, and it provides support to Muslim Brotherhood branches that are terrorist organizations," said Sen. Cruz."One of those branches is Hamas, which on October 7 committed the worst single-day massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, which included the murder and kidnapping of at least 53 Americans. They are committed to the overthrow and destruction of America and other non-Islamist governments across the world, and pose an acute threat to American national security interests. American allies in the Middle East and Europe have already labeled the Brotherhood a terrorist organization, and the United States should do the same, and do so expeditiously."

Sens. Tuberville and Cruz were joined by Sens. John Boozman (R-AR), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Dave McCormick (R-PA), Ashley Moody (R-FL), and Rick Scott (R-FL) in cosponsoring the legislation.

Representative Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL-26) introduced companion legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives.
