Council honors longtime business and nonprofits for their service to this community

The City Council on Tuesday recognized a long-time business and trio of nonprofits that have been steadfastly serving the community.

As part of the City's Business Spotlight series, the Council recognized Conroy's Flowers for providing exceptional service since 1985.

In addition, the nonprofit Vocational Visions was feted for its efforts to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through its programs and services, the organization helps individuals develop their talents and skills while creating pathways to employment, lifelong learning and social inclusion.

The Council also honored Repair Café OC, a local nonprofit organization that hosts a popular monthly event at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. The event brings neighbors together to help one another repair broken household items at no cost, promoting sustainability, resourcefulness and community connection.

Council Members also celebrated the Kiwanis Club of Mission Viejo for its longtime commitment to community service. Since 1969, the organization has made a meaningful impact through its dedication to serving local residents and supporting the community.

Furthermore, the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library was honored for its continued support of the library and its many contributions to enriching library services and programs. As a result of the group's efforts, the Friends presented the City with a check representing donations raised through its year-round fundraising efforts.

The City Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Meetings are streamed live on the City's website and air on Spectrum Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.
