Ranking Member McCollum Statement on President Trump’s Declaration that ‘An Entire Civilization Will Die Tonight’

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Congresswoman Betty McCollum, Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, issued the following statement on Tuesday morning:

"President Trump's statement that a 'whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again' speaks to genocide. Should the President carry out his threats, he will be committing war crimes on a mass scale. Listening to the President these last few days should make all Americans deeply concerned about his state of mind. The President's cabinet should take notice. The Speaker of the House must immediately call the House back into session. Congress must stop this President from committing these atrocities."
