PITTSBURGH - Bobby Rahal Automotive Group has selected Allegheny Health Network (AHN) as the recipient of a generous Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) contribution designated for the AHN Chill Project™, a school-based behavioral health initiative serving students across Western Pennsylvania.
Since 2001, Pennsylvania's EITC program has enabled businesses and individuals to channel funds directly into local youth education and wellness programs by donating to approved Education Improvement Organizations. Businesses may donate up to $750,000 annually and claim 75% to 90% of that contribution as a credit against their state tax bill.
AHN was the first health system in Pennsylvania to be approved as an Education Improvement Organization through the Chill Project, bringing enhanced behavioral health resources directly into school communities. EITC contributions help stabilize the cost of full on-site Chill Project services and ensure that all schools, regardless of ZIP Code, have access to a multi-tiered system of preventative behavioral health supports and pathways to higher levels of care.
"We are incredibly grateful to Bobby Rahal Automotive Group for their generous EITC donation to the AHN Chill Project," said William Davies, Ed.D., founder of the AHN Chill Project. "This type of support from local businesses is vital to our mission to champion the mental health and well-being of today's youth. One hundred percent of the donation will be used to support AHN Chill Project programming at Northgate School District, allowing us to continue providing critical resources that empower students and families to navigate challenges and build resilience."
Bobby Rahal Automotive Group's contribution will directly benefit Northgate School District in Bellevue, Pa. Northgate is one of 50 K-12 schools across Allegheny, Washington, Bedford, and Erie counties that utilize Chill Project services. The program launched in 2019 with just two schools, in response to a growing demand for preventative, school-based mental health services.
"When reviewing the approved EITC organizations, we were intrigued immediately when we saw AHN on the list," said Sunil Lahoti, Vice President of Bobby Rahal Automotive Group. "Once we learned the contribution would directly support the Chill Project, the decision was clear. The measurable impact this program is making on student mental health throughout our region is both meaningful and inspiring, and we are proud to support an initiative that strengthens the well-being of our local communities."
As funding for school-based mental health services faces increasing uncertainty, the EITC program offers businesses and individuals a dedicated, sustainable way to reduce their state tax liability while investing directly in their communities' well-being.
