Norton Rose Fulbright Canada among top-ranked firms in multiple FY 2025 M&A league tables

We are proud to be ranked among the top Canadian law firms for FY 2025 by multiple prominent publishers who track legal advisory work on mergers and acquisitions in Canada.

For 2025, we ranked:

  • 3rd among Canadian law firms by Bloomberg in announced deals (by deal value),
  • 4th among Canadian law firms by Mergermarket in announced deals (by deal value),
  • 5th overall by LSEG in Canadian completed deals (by deal value), and
  • 3rd among Canadian law firms by Dealogic in announced deals (by deal value).

In 2025, we advised clients on some of the most complex and high-profile M&A transactions in Canada, including many contentious M&A transactions. Our firm is the first to ever rank #1 in Canada by Bloomberg for both company defense and shareholder activism mandates, which include advisory work on contested M&A deals and hostile takeover bids. We were also ranked by Bloomberg as the #1 law firm in the world for shareholder activism defense in the energy sector.

Our private M&A team advised clients on several complex and accretive transactions in 2025, helping clients mitigate risk and achieve their business objectives. Several industries that were particularly active include energy, retail, mining, aviation and real estate.

We offer clients our deep sector-driven expertise. Our strong local presence across Canada's major business centres, as well as our global footprint, position us as a leading advisor on domestic, cross-border and multijurisdictional transactions.

Kirk Litvenenko, Senior Partner and Canadian National Chair, Business Law, said: "We thank our clients for continuing to trust us with their most complex and transformative M&A transactions. We are proud of our team for supporting our clients in creating value while navigating today's geopolitical and economic climate."
