Death Valley National Park and Timbisha Shoshone Tribe Celebrate 25th anniversary of Homeland Act

DEATH VALLEY, Calif. - Death Valley National Park, in partnership with the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe, will host a special event on Jan. 30 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Timbisha Shoshone Homeland Act.
The Timbisha Shoshone Homeland Act, enacted in 2000, formally recognized the tribe's ancestral connection to Death Valley, transferred lands to the tribe, and established co-management of much of the park.
The public is invited to the celebration at 10 a.m. in Furnace Creek Visitor Center, or live streamed online at https://ow.ly/9gZU50XT2Yh. The event will include a tribal blessing and speeches by Timbisha Shoshone Tribal Council members and the National Park Service.
