The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security is proud to announce that the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has been awarded its Fifth Accreditation Award by the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police (TACP).
On June 3, 2026, the TACP Professional Standards Committee, in partnership with the Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, voted to confer this prestigious recognition following a comprehensive review of THP's continued compliance with statewide professional standards.
This accreditation is granted for a three-year period, extending through June 2030, and aligns with the agency's CALEA assessment cycle. The award reflects THP's sustained commitment to meeting and exceeding all established standards, including newly adopted or amended requirements set forth by the Professional Standards Committee.
"Accreditation is not simply a certificate you hang on a wall. It is a reflection of who these men and women are and what they believe this work requires of them," said Commissioner Jeff Long. "Every trooper and every staff member who wears this badge has committed themselves to something greater than a job, and that commitment shows. I am grateful for Colonel Perry's leadership and deeply proud of what this team has accomplished for the people of Tennessee."
The Tennessee Highway Patrol's accreditation underscores the agency's ongoing commitment to delivering exemplary law enforcement services statewide. The Department extends its appreciation to the TACP for its partnership and recognition of THP's continued pursuit of operational excellence.
