HAWAIʻI CLIMATE REBATE FINDER HELPS RESIDENTS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES SAVE ON UPGRADES

HONOLULU - Hawaiʻi households and local businesses now have a direct way to keep more money in their accounts and avoid missing out on valuable financial incentives. The Hawaiʻi State Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (CCMAC) launched the Hawaiʻi Climate Rebate Finder, a comprehensive tool designed to help residents and commercial operations save money when upgrading facilities, appliances, water systems and transportation.

In alignment with Governor Green's priority of increasing affordability, CCMAC acknowledges that the high cost of living and operating a successful business are overriding concerns for many residents and business owners across the islands. Many miss out on hundreds or even thousands of dollars in available rebates, simply because programs are scattered across different state agencies, counties, utilities and organizations. CCMAC's new rebate finder solves this problem by consolidating eligible cash-back programs, tax incentives and financial assistance into one central hub.

Whether upgrading home appliances, improving agricultural or commercial water efficiency, retrofitting business lighting and HVAC systems, or switching to clean transportation, local users can now quickly pinpoint cost-saving opportunities before making purchases.

In addition to residential incentives, the rebate finder includes dedicated resources for commercial operations, small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Business owners can easily locate commercial energy efficiency rebates, water conservation incentives and clean-fleet opportunities designed to lower overhead costs and boost operational resilience.

"I recently used the finder tool when looking to buy a new refrigerator and found a rebate that saved me $250," said Bill Unruh, CCMAC's climate outreach leader. "Without a centralized tool, it's easy to miss out on cash back you're actually eligible to receive. Having everything in one place prevented me from losing out on significant savings."

By placing affordability at the center, the tool advances the goals of the Hawaiʻi Climate Action Pathways (HICAP) - the state's community-driven plan to build a safe, affordable and climate-ready Hawaiʻi. Developed in partnership with community members, state agencies, counties, technical experts, the University of Hawaiʻi System and local nonprofits, HICAP focuses on practical solutions that lower everyday living and operating costs while protecting public health and the environment.

"We created the rebate finder so households and commercial operations can easily claim every dollar of savings available to them," said Hawaiʻi State Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission Coordinator, Leah Laramee. "We know that often the sustainable choices are the most affordable choices and the rebate finder helps to make that connection."

Because funding pools, eligibility rules and deadlines vary by program, residents and business operators are encouraged to check the rebate finder before making major equipment purchases to ensure they claim all available funds.
