S-OIL has conducted the "Hero Citizen Campaign" to honor brave citizens since 2008.

It awarded a total of 140 million won to 19 Hero Citizens of the Year who risked their safety to help others in danger.

S-OIL (CEO Anwar A. Al-Hejazi) held the "2026 Hero Citizen Award Ceremony" at its headquarters in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo, Seoul, together with the Korea National Council on Social Welfare (Chairman Kim Hyun-hoon) on October 1. At the ceremony, the Company presented plaques and a total of 140 million won in prize money to 19 Hero Citizens of the Year.

Among the Hero Citizens, Ko Gyung-sik and Jeong Taek-eun, who sustained injuries while carrying out rescue efforts, each received the Hero Citizen Award and 15 million won in prize money. In June 2026, Ko Gyung-sik suffered fractures while rescuing a vessel that had been wrecked at Jeju Port, but nevertheless managed to tow it to safety. In December 2025, Jeong Taek-eun inhaled a large amount of toxic smoke while fighting a residential fire in Jangan-dong and required hospitalization at a burn treatment center. The other Hero Citizens were each presented with the award and 10 million won in prize money.

CEO Al-Hejazi said, "Citizens who demonstrate a spirit of self-sacrifice to help neighbors in danger are the true heroes of our society. S-OIL will continue to support and honor Hero Citizens who put others before themselves."

Since launching the Hero Citizen Campaign in 2008, S-OIL has recognized a total of 369 Hero Citizens and awarded 2.6 billion won in prize money over the past 19 years, honoring citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage in saving others in danger.
