Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Uganda Fan Xuecheng Attends the Launch Ceremony of China-Funded Humanitarian Assistance Grant Project for Uganda

On April 22, Mr. Fan Xuecheng, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Uganda, attended the launch ceremony of the China-Funded Humanitarian Assistance Grant Project for Uganda. The event was graced by the Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister of Uganda; Hon. Eng. Hilary Onek, Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees; Hon. Henry Okello Oryem, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Mr. Wang Jianxun, Counselor of the Embassy; as well as representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and various UN agencies in Uganda, among others.

In his remarks, Chargé d'Affaires Fan pointed out that this assistance project is a concrete step in implementing the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit. He commended Uganda for its long-standing open and inclusive refugee policy, as well as its contributions to humanitarian causes. With the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in place, bilateral cooperation has flourished across the board with tangible outcomes. China will continue to uphold the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith, deepening pragmatic cooperation to support Uganda Vision 2040.

Rt. Honorable Prime Minister Nabbanja expressed her gratitude to the Chinese government for its timely and generous assistance. She noted that the project will effectively enhance Uganda's capacity to respond to refugee needs, promote social integration and stability, and further consolidate the traditional friendship and cooperative relationship between Uganda and China.
