Homicide Investigation: C26-136884

On June 8, 2026, just after 8:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a serious incident at a commercial business in the 200 block of Salter Avenue.

North District General Patrol officers arrived on scene and determined that a man had attended the business when he was approached by several individuals. An argument ensued, which escalated to the point where the victim was assaulted with a weapon. The suspects fled and police were notified.

The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Kyle Christopher DESJARLAIS, a Métis Citizen who had been residing in Winnipeg.

The Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate.
