Asia Hub’s New Global News Editor

Please join us in congratulating Farah Fleurima, the new global news editor for the Asia hub in Seoul. After a huge news year in which she was a crucial backup day editor, she's already bringing innovation and order to the role. She'll help lead the International report during daylight hours in Asia, working with bureaus around the world, the London and New York hubs, as well as the breaking news team in Seoul.

Farah joined The Times in 2021 on the Home team in Seoul, later becoming the night editor on the International desk in Asia. She quickly established herself as a warm and giving colleague at the heart of our growing Seoul newsroom. Before The Times, she worked at The Detroit News and The Dallas Morning News, and was a contributor for Thrillist, Zagat and Rolling Stone, among other publications. Her quirkiest job, by far, was teaching English to aspiring flight attendants at a Korean university

A Brooklyn native who considers Dallas her hometown, Farah holds bachelor's and master's degrees in creative writing and has written a number of features for The Times. Her favorites are a dive into hidden bars in Seoul and an examination of Hollywood's use of fat suits . Her interests include dining out, showcasing her Wordle mastery and working toward karaoke stardom.

Farah lives in Seoul with her husband, their cat, and their dog.

Congratulations, Farah.
