The GW Association of Hispanic Journalists was awarded the 2025 Student Chapter of the Year by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
The GW Association of Hispanic Journalistshas been awarded Student Chapter of the Year by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. This recognition reflects the organization's impact in fostering leadership, promoting journalistic excellence and building an inclusive community that uplifts diverse voices.
The chapter was commended for fostering collaboration across D.C. through partnerships with NAHJ-DC. Members engaged in newsroom visits, congressional briefings and innovative events, including CNN on-camera training with Boris Sanchez and a powerful diversity panel with AAJA and ABJ. The organization was also recognized for increasing membership by 75 percent. In addition, the award noted student success stories, including internships at CBS News, TeleOnce and Hola Cultura.
GWAHJ is open to students of all backgrounds and works to connect aspiring journalists, political communicators and storytellers with a network of Hispanic newsmakers.
