MSRB HOSTS MUNI FINANCE DAY WITH CHICAGO SUMMER BUSINESS INSTITUTE
Rep. LaHood and municipal securities industry leaders share insight with Chicago high school students

Washington, DC - The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) today hosted its fifth Muni Finance Day in partnership with the Chicago Summer Business Institute (CSBI), a program for Chicago high school students interested in careers in financial services.

"We are pleased to once again collaborate with CSBI to highlight the critical role municipal bonds serve in America's communities and our economy, while inspiring the next generation of public finance professionals," MSRB Chief External Relations Officer Aleis Stokes said. "I am grateful to Congressman LaHood and to each of our distinguished speakers for sharing their personal stories and career advice with these promising high school students."

Muni Finance Day speakers included:

  • Congressman Darin LaHood (R-IL), 16th District of Illinois
  • Dave Sanchez, Director, Office of Municipal Securities, Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Nancy Feldman, Chief of the Division of Fiscal Management, Montgomery County, Maryland, and MSRB Board member
  • John Bagley, MSRB Chief Market Structure Officer

The Chicago Summer Business Institute was founded in 1991 to provide paid summer internships for Chicago high school students and to introduce them to the financial services sector. CSBI's mission is to provide participants with an incentive to continue their education while preparing them for the business world.

"We thank MSRB for its partnership and ongoing support of CSBI's summer intern program," CSBI Executive Director Julia King said. "Today's event exposed students to a variety of perspectives from across the public finance industry and helped them understand how a career in public finance can be both impactful and rewarding."
