Best thing about Longwood?

I really appreciate that we have over 175 clubs and organizations because it gives students the opportunity to explore their interests and future career paths outside of the classroom. Being able to get involved helped me build connections, develop leadership skills and feel more engaged in the campus community. I also really valued Longwood's small campus and class sizes, which allowed me to build meaningful relationships with students and professors. I appreciated being able to connect with individuals from different backgrounds and perspectives.

One professor or staff member who you couldn't have done it without?

There are many professors and staff that were impactful during my time at Longwood and I wish I could list them all. Two individuals who were especially influential were Byron Morgan and Susan Sullivan. Both of them saw potential in me early on and consistently supported me as mentors. Byron challenged me to strive for excellence and step outside of my comfort zone through the Call Me MISTER program, helping me grow in confidence, leadership and professionalism. Susan also played an important role in my development, offering guidance, encouragement, and thoughtful advice during my time as a Color Wars coordinator. Both of them have positively influenced many students at Longwood, and the university is fortunate to have them.

One unforgettable experience you had at Longwood?

Helping make Oktoberfest happen this past fall as part of Mortar Board. I worked alongside my peers in planning and carrying out different responsibilities that required teamwork, organization and a lot of effort. It was challenging at times, but seeing the event come together successfully and positively impact the campus community was extremely rewarding.

Longwood in three words?

Unforgettable. Fulfilling. Rewarding.

I am ready for career success because…

The strong academic knowledge and real-world classroom experience I received. Through my coursework and field placements, I learned how to plan engaging lessons, differentiate for diverse learners and build positive relationships with students. It also helped me grow in confidence, adaptability and professionalism, which I know are essential as I begin my teaching career.
