Rep. Nancy Mace Issues Statement On War Powers Vote

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Mar. 5, 2026) -Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) released the following statement after the House voted down the War Powers resolution:

"We voted NO on the War Powers resolution, without hesitation.

"This resolution would have ordered President Trump to stand down military operations against Iran's terrorist regime mid-operation. This is not only reckless, it is a direct threat to our national security.

"Let's be clear about what Iran is. They are the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism. They have murdered American citizens, brutally executed their own people, threatened our national security, and even plotted to assassinate President Trump.

"President Trump is doing what needs to be done. Forcing a halt mid-operation doesn't protect Americans, it empowers our enemies, undermines our military, and puts American lives at risk.

"This is not the time for Congress to tie the hands of our Commander-in-Chief. We must finish the job."
