The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services today announced new evidence-based interventions will be added to the Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse. This expansion of services builds on ACF's ongoing efforts to equip states with proven interventions that help strengthen families and prevent unnecessary entries into foster care.
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," said ACF Assistant Secretary Alex J. Adams. "As ACF continues to expand access to prevention services, we encourage states to capitalize on this opportunity and update their prevention plans to help strengthen families, improve child well-being, and reduce the need for foster care entry when it is safe to do so."
ACF is committed to improving the ratio of foster homes to children in foster care through A Home for Every Child . Prevention efforts anchor this initiative, which is why ACF continues to add new services to the Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse. In February, ACF expanded access to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder for at-risk families, and in March, announced four new evidence-based interventions to strengthen efforts to keep families together. These investments in prevention services equip states with proven tools to help families address challenges before children must be removed from their homes.
