Fredericksburg, Texas - The City of Fredericksburg announces the hiring of Laurie Cassidy as Deputy City Secretary and Susana Huerta as Assistant Director of Development Services.
Cassidy joins the City after serving five and a half years as City Secretary in Blanco. Under her leadership, Blanco's City Secretary's Office earned the Municipal Clerk's Office Achievement of Excellence Award in 2024.
She was also voted Best City Employee and earned Best of Blanco County honors for three consecutive years (2023-2025). During her tenure in Blanco, Cassidy served as Elections Administrator, Records Management Officer, and Public Information Officer-overseeing municipal elections, ensuring compliance with records policies, and enhancing public communication. She received her Texas Registered Municipal Clerk (TRMC) certification in 2022 and her Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation in 2025 and remains an active member of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association (TMCA) and the Hill Country Chapter.
Cassidy is married to Mike Cassidy and together they have five children and seven grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, photography, and scrapbooking. She began her tenure at the City on September 9.
Huerta brings more than 25 years of experience in municipal planning, zoning, and community development across Texas. She most recently served as Planning and Zoning Director for the City of Leon Valley, where she oversaw planning, platting, zoning, and permitting functions. Her previous roles include Assistant Planning Director for the City of Cibolo and Planning Director for the City of Bulverde, as well as planning positions in Boerne, Laredo, McAllen, and Harlingen.
She holds a Master of Science in Community and Regional Planning with a specialization in Land Development and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from The University of Texas at Austin. Huerta is a certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and a member of the American Planning Association.
Huerta has two adult children, loves dogs, and enjoys watching movies in her free time. She began her work with the City on September 2.
