The President congratulated Israel on the independence anniversary

President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to President of the State of Israel Isaac Herzog on the 78th anniversary of the independence of the State of Israel.

President Gitanas Nausėda welcomed the growing cooperation between Lithuania and Israel in the field of defense as well as the partnerships established with Israel's leading defense companies, and expressed belief that they will contribute to strengthening the security of the two countries.

"Your visit to Lithuania in 2025 is a testament to the dynamic development of ties between our states. Let us continue to strengthen the friendship between our countries across all areas of cooperation," the message of congratulations reads.

President Gitanas Nausėda assured the President of Israel that Lithuania will continue to uphold issues of historical memory that are important to both countries, and will remain committed to preserving Jewish heritage and honoring the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. The Lithuanian leader expressed gratitude to Isreal for its position and support for Ukraine, as Russia's military aggression against Ukraine is now continuing for more than four years, shaking the foundations of Europe's security architecture.

Gitanas Nausėda wished the President of Israel and all the people of this country peace and strength during this challenging time.
