On 7 September, IPA President Gvantsa Jobava took part in two panel discussions held within the framework of the Armenia Book Festival.

Jobava participate din two different sessions:

  • "Literary Engagement and Reading Cultures: Strategies for Promotion"
  • "Big Stories, Small Languages: Translation and Promotion in a Global Market"

During the first discussion on Literary Engagement and Reading Cultures: Strategies for Promotion, the focus was on promoting reading and literacy. Gvantsa Jobava underlined the importance of building strong cooperation between the state and the private sector, stressing the need for a strong and healthy relationship based on collaboration in a free and open environment. She also highlighted the importance of strong, representative associations that can defend the interests of the sector and promote books and reading as vital benefits to society.

The discussion emphasized the two core pillars of the IPA - copyright and freedom to publish - and the critical importance of safeguarding these values.

The second panel, Big Stories, Small Languages: Translation and Promotion in a Global Market, brought together publishers to reflect on the challenges small languages face in the global literary market, particularly regarding translation and international promotion. This year's Yerevan Book Festival also marked the launch of the festival's first-ever Publishers' Fellowship Programme, welcoming international publishing professionals to Armenia.
