The Simi Valley Police Department will host a free E-Bike Safety Education Event on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Rancho Santa Susana Community Center, located at 5005 E. Los Angeles Avenue in Simi Valley.
This hands-on educational event is designed to provide families, students, and community members with clear, practical information on e-bike safety and responsible riding. No registration is required.
Participants will learn about current laws and regulations, safe riding practices, and important safety considerations for youth riders. The event will also include time for questions and discussion with police personnel, along with a display of a variety of e-bike models to help attendees better understand how they operate and the differences between types.
"Our community has been deeply affected by a recent tragedy, and we want to increase awareness to help prevent future incidents," said Simi Valley Police Chief Steve Shorts. "This event will cover current laws, safe riding practices, and give attendees a chance to ask questions."
Officers from the Traffic Bureau will also provide an overview of recent updates to the Simi Valley Municipal Code adopted by the City Council in March 2026. These updates modernize regulations governing bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, and similar devices operating on sidewalks and shared-use paths, with a focus on improving safety in pedestrian-oriented areas.
The Simi Valley Police Department continues to work with local schools and community partners to expand safety education, increase awareness, and support safe riding practices across the community.
