Oklahoma State University President Jim Hess has announced the appointment of Jason Ramseyas senior vice president and chief operating officer.
The OSU/A&M Board of Regents approved the appointment during its Sept. 12 meeting at Langston University. Ramseywill assume his new role on Oct. 1.
Ramsey, who has served as chief executive officer and board secretary for the OSU/A&M Board of Regents since 2012, brings over two decades of higher education administration experience to his new role. He has provided strategic leadership through periods of stability and transition, managing all board operations while serving as a trusted advisor to presidents, board members and other leaders throughout the A&M System. Prior to his service as CEO, he spent nearly a decade directing legislative affairs and government relations for the OSU/A&M Board and its institutions.
In his new role, Ramseywill provide executive leadership for a comprehensive portfolio of operational areas, including Human Resources, Facilities Management, Information Technology, Long Range Facilities Planning, Legislative Affairs, Legal Affairs, Ombudsman Services, OSU Police and Campus Safety, and Parking and Transit Services.
"Jason has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and judgment throughout his career, and I have great confidence in his ability to bring vision and candor to this critical role," Dr. Hess said. "I know he will hit the ground running as we focus more closely on our staff, faculty and student experience."

OSU/A&M Regents Chair Rick Walker expressed his support for Ramsey's appointment.
"On behalf of the OSU/A&M Board of Regents, I congratulate Jason on his new role as chief operating officer of the OSU System. For more than two decades, Jason has been a trusted leader for our system and a sound advisor to regents and university presidents alike," Walker said. "His judgment, integrity and deep understanding of higher education governance have strengthened our institutions and provided stability. The Board of Regents will discuss next steps in filling his current role and ensure a smooth transition for the system."
Former OSU president Burns Hargis, who also served as an OSU/A&M regent from 2002 to 2007, lauded Ramsey's appointment.

Ramseyholds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from OSU.
