Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) Administrative Director George Parisotto has appointed two new members of the Workers' Compensation Ethics Advisory Committee.
Eugene Gogerman, presiding workers' compensation administrative law judge (PWCALJ) at the San Francisco DWC district office, will fill the position designated for a PWCALJ, replacing Van Nuys Presiding Judge William E. Gunn, who has retired.
Sherry E. Grant, a retired applicant's attorney, will fill the vacant position designated to be held by an attorney who formerly practiced before the Worker's Compensation Appeals Board and usually represented applicants.
Both appointments are effective September 5, 2025.
Eugene Gogerman has been a workers' compensation judge since 2015. In 2022, he was appointed presiding judge of the San Francisco District Office. In addition to his regular responsibilities, he serves on the Board of Governors of the Conference of California Workers' Compensation Judges and has presented on various topics during training seminars for judges and the public. Prior to becoming a judge, he practiced mainly workers' compensation and maritime law in the Bay Area.
Sherry E. Grant is a certified specialist in workers' compensation law and a founding partner of Gordon, Edelstein, Krepack, Grant, Felton & Goldstein, LLP. She has built her career advocating for injured workers and advancing fairness in the workplace. In the past, she had served as an adjunct law professor at Southwestern Law School. She co-authored an e-book titled "Pearls of the AMA Guides," a tool to the American Medical Association reference book.
The ethics advisory committee, established in 1995 by Title 8, California Code of Regulations, section 9722, reviews all ethics complaints from the public against workers' compensation administrative law judges. The members meet quarterly and serve without compensation.
A judicial ethics complaint form and instructions can be found on the forms page of the DWC website.
