Rep. Bera Slams Trump Administration’s Deferral of More Than $867 Million in Medicaid Payments to California

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-06) issued the following statement after the Trump administration announced it would defer more than $867 million in Medicaid payments to California:

"Trump and RFK Jr.'s latest politically motivated attack on our state will place further strain on our health care system, force providers to scale back services, and put our most vulnerable residents at risk.

"Fraud must be investigated and bad actors must be held accountable in red states and blue states alike. But this selective, vindictive, and sweeping action is not a serious effort to combat fraud. It is about singling out California because our state has consistently stood up to this President and his attacks on our values.

"The Administration must immediately reverse course and restore this funding."
