Rep. Regina Lewis-Ward Sponsors Resolution Honoring Councilman Alphonso Thomas

ATLANTA - State Representative Regina Lewis-Ward (D-McDonough) announces that the intersection of State Route 42/US-23 and East Atlanta Road in Henry County was recently designated as the Councilman Alphonso Thomas Memorial Intersection in honor of the late Stockbridge Council member Alphonso Thomas.

"Councilman Alphonso Thomas represented the spirit of service that strengthened the community at-large," said Rep. Lewis-Ward. "This dedication ensures that his name and memory remain part of the daily lives of residents, visitors and future generations who travel through the City of Stockbridge."

The dedication follows the adoption of House Resolution 1887, sponsored by Rep. Lewis-Ward and co-sponsored by State Representatives El-Mahdi Holly (D-Stockbridge) and Demetrius Douglas (D-Stockbridge) during the 2026 legislative session, which authorizes the intersection's designation in recognition of Councilman Thomas' legacy of public service and representing the at-large Stockbridge community.

Rep. Lewis-Ward emphasizes that this recognition honors the late councilman, his relationships, initiatives and community connections he built throughout more than 30 years of public service.
