New traffic signal in Burley inoperable after crash

BURLEY - The new traffic signal installed in August at the intersection of Eighth Street and Overland Road is currently inoperable after being struck last night by a piece of heavy equipment being hauled through the area.

The signal heads have been covered, and now drivers on Eighth Street will be required to stop. Traffic on Overland will have the right of way and will not stop.

The Idaho Transportation Department is working to determine the extent of the damage and the timeline for replacing or repairing the signal. The cost of repairs will be the responsibility of the person hauling the equipment.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, pay attention and allow extra time when traveling through the intersection. Check 511.idaho.gov for traffic updates and impacts.
