CMS Updates Medicaid Child Health Guidance

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated its Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) Coverage Guide to help states deliver care for children covered by Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program. This compilation of guidance serves as a technical assistance tool for state EPSDT staff.

The guide covers periodic and interperiodic screenings, treatment services under EPSDT, services available to children under other authorities, permissible limitations on coverage of EPSDT services, notice and fair hearing requirements, access to services, managed care, and federal and state EPSDT quality reporting and monitoring.
