Solid Waste Services 'Beat the Heat' Operations Begin May 26

What is "Beat the Heat"?

Solid Waste Service crews will begin collections early in order to avoid the high temperatures during summer afternoons.

Collection Delay

Solid Waste Services monitors weather forecasts and implements temporary measures to combat staff injuries and illnesses when the heat index exceeds safe limits. During these weather-related incidents, some customers may experience minor collection delays.

Customers are asked to keep garbage, recycling, and yard waste carts at the curb until serviced. To serve customers in a timely manner, collections may continue into the weekend. The City will not issue warnings or fines during these periods.

Have Your Carts on the Curb by 6 a.m.

To assist our collection crews with beating the heat, we remind curbside customers to please have their carts out for collection by 6 a.m. on your collection day. The best thing to do is put your carts out the night before.
