Community members do not need to be experts in police oversight to attend. The Open House is an opportunity to meet the IPA team, learn about the committee's purpose, and understand how residents can help strengthen accountability, transparency, and public trust in San José.
IPAAC members play an important role in supporting community-centered police oversight. Members provide feedback on IPA public reports, outreach efforts, and policy recommendations. The committee also discusses trends and issues related to police oversight and participates in educational sessions on legal standards, City policies, and best practices in police accountability.
