Chief Afzal reviewed body-worn camera footage and spoke to media earlier this evening.

At approximately 4:21 p.m., dispatchers received information about a man pulling a gun on a woman in the 200 block of Spring Garden Street. The first officer who arrived on the scene heard gunshots, saw the gunshot victim, and saw someone with a handgun running from the scene east on Smothers Place.

A handgun was recovered from the scene.

The victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

This is an active investigation. Further details will be shared as soon as the information becomes available for public release.

Greensboro Police Department's Professional Standards Division will conduct an internal investigation to determine whether Greensboro Police Department policies were followed. Pursuant to departmental policy, the five officers involved in this incident have been placed on administrative duty.
