A study on online violence among adolescents and young people is about to be launched in Kyrgyzstan

The study covers all regions of the Kyrgyz Republic, including the Chui, Issyk-Kul, Osh, Jalal-Abad, Naryn, Talas and Batken regions, as well as the cities of Bishkek and Osh. During the fieldwork phase, more than 1,000 respondents aged between 11 and 24 - comprising adolescents and young people from various social, ethnic and geographical groups - will be interviewed. This scope will enable the collection of representative data on the situation regarding online violence in different regions of the country, including both urban and remote rural communities. Particular attention will be paid to the inclusion of vulnerable groups of young people, including those living in rural areas and members of ethnic minorities.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Centre for Parliamentary and Democratic Development at the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic, the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty, as well as experts and representatives of civil society. Participants examined key research tools and methodological approaches. These included questionnaires for quantitative surveys, guides for in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, methods for keeping digital diaries, informed consent forms, and a guide to coding digital content.
