Lock in College Costs Starting at $29/Month: Florida Prepaid Open Enrollment Starts February 1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Prepaid College Board today announced the Open Enrollment window for 2026 will start February 1, allowing Florida families to lock in future postsecondary education costs at today's plan prices.

This enrollment season is the first to offer a simplified plan structure and enhanced online enrollment experience for Prepaid Tuition and Dormitory Plans, making it easier than ever for families to choose the right option for their budget and goals. Plans start at just $29 per month, offering an affordable, risk-free way to save for college.

What's New for Open Enrollment 2026

• Redesigned Online Experience: Florida Prepaid's new website and Plan Builder tool provide personalized guidance to help families compare options, estimate costs and enroll with confidence.
• Simplified Plan Options: Florida Prepaid now offers Prepaid Plans exclusively in one-year (30 credit hour) increments to allow families to start saving quickly and easily.
• Affordable & Accessible: Families can begin saving early with low monthly payments designed to fit their budget and savings goals.

These enhancements provide families with more control and allow them to start saving for college and other postsecondary paths in just minutes.

The 1-Year Prepaid Plan covers 30 credit hours at the university tuition rate, and its value can be applied to multiple education pathways, including state college or career programs.

With the new plan structure, families can start with just one year and add on future years of coverage one at a time - at a pace that works for their budget and goals. Every Prepaid Plan is guaranteed by the State of Florida, so savings are safe and protected against rising tuition and housing costs.

Florida Prepaid will pay the same amount to out-of-state schools and private colleges as it would to public colleges or universities in Florida, and a child has up to 10 years after high school graduation to use the plan. Plus, if the family moves out of state, the child can return to a Florida public college or university and their Prepaid Plan qualifies them for in-state tuition rates.
