USDA Rural Development Participates in Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with AccessOn Internet

(Hollister, N.C., Oct. 6, 2026) - Members of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development North Carolina team participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony with AccessOn Internet today.

AccessOn Internet utilized a $17 million USDA ReConnect Program Grant to connect approximately 2,100 households, 100 businesses, 76 farms, and 22 educational facilities to fast, reliable and affordable internet in Halifax and Warren counties and the Haliwa-Saponi Tribal Statistical Area.

"President Trump and Secretary Brooke Rollins are putting rural America first by investing in the infrastructure our farmers, families and small businesses need to compete, grow and prosper," said USDA Rural Development Director of State Operations Robert Hosford. "This $17 million ReConnect investment is about more than expanding high-speed internet-it is about strengthening American agriculture, creating opportunities for rural businesses, supporting education and ensuring families in Halifax and Warren counties and the Haliwa-Saponi Tribal Statistical Area are not left behind in today's economy. Under President Trump's leadership, USDA Rural Development is focused on delivering results, removing barriers to prosperity and making certain rural North Carolina remains a strong and vital part of America's economic future."

The ReConnect Loan and Grant Program furnishes funding for construction, improvement, or acquisition of facilities and equipment needed to provide broadband service in eligible rural areas.
