Prime Minister Rumen Radev met with senior officials of the German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA - Bundesverband für Wirtschaftaförderung und Außenwirtschaft) in high technologies, Artificial Intelligence, energy and the construction of smart cities. The meeting was upon the initiative of the BWA.
At the meeting the Prime Minister emphasized that Bulgaria is undergoing a process of deep transformation that is to build more effective institutions and to create a modern predictable and competitive climate that promotes investment and innovation. Rumen Radev noted, among other advantages, the country's strategic geographic location, the skilled human factor and the favorable tax policy.
The businesses advanced ideas and presented good practices in high-tech industries and modern urban planning as they highlighted various options for making partnerships with Bulgaria. They noted as pressing issues for Bulgaria the country's preparation for accession to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the improvement of EU funds absorption and the prevention of an excessively restrictive budget policy to the detriment of economic development and growth.
