Edmunds GovTech ("EGT" or "the Company"), a leading provider of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solutions to local governments, today announced that Bob Edmunds Sr. will transition fully to his role as Executive Chairman of the Board after more than three decades as Chief Executive Officer. John Kristel has been appointed CEO, effective immediately, to lead EGT's next chapter of growth.
Edmunds Sr. joined EGT in 1982 as an Associate Programmer and assumed leadership in 1993 from his father and EGT's founder, Robert R. Edmunds. As Executive Chairman, he will continue to provide strategic leadership, supporting the Company's long-term vision, innovation initiatives, and commitment to customer success.
"It has been an incredible privilege to uphold my family's legacy at Edmunds GovTech and to serve our customers for more than four decades," said Edmunds Sr. "I am proud of what our team has built together, and confident John is the right leader to execute on our established strategy and drive continued growth. I am eager to continue spending time with our customers and to support John in every way I can as we build upon our long history of serving local government entities."
"Bob and his team have built Edmunds GovTech into a company that local governments can trust," said Kristel. "Customers will remain at the center of everything we do. I look forward to partnering with Bob and the management team, listening closely to the communities we serve, and continuing to invest in the technology they need."
"Bob's vision, dedication, and stewardship have been instrumental in shaping EGT, and the Company reflects the care he has brought to it every day," said Ashutosh Agrawal, Managing Director at TA Associates and EGT board member. "Since TA partnered with EGT in 2024, we have seen that dedication firsthand, and it has been a privilege to work alongside Bob. We believe John is very well positioned to succeed as CEO and are excited to partner with him to extend EGT's legacy."
Kristel joins EGT from Inhabit, a global property technology software company, where he most recently served as Chief Executive Officer. He brings to EGT more than 18 years of experience as a CEO and Board member, with the past eight years dedicated to advancing government technology, property technology, and payment processing organizations, including Catalis (formerly Government Brands), a provider of software and integrated payments solutions to government agencies, and Stax Payments, a payments technology firm. Kristel has a strong track record of scaling mission-critical software and payments businesses and has led multiple organizations through recapitalization events. Kristel will also join EGT's Board of Directors, effective immediately.
"My father, Bob Sr., has spent his career showing up for local governments and the people who rely on them," said Bob Edmunds Jr., Chief Revenue Officer of Edmunds GovTech. "John's background in government technology and payments will be valuable as we further foster community relationships and strengthen our go-to-market efforts. I am happy to welcome him to the Edmunds GovTech family and look forward to working alongside him as we enter the Company's next chapter."
