24 June 2026, Basseterre, Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis - The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) will once again offer its free generative artificial intelligence and python coding summer camp for the third time. The summer camp, jointly sponsored by the ECCB and the Republic of China (Taiwan), was conceived as a transformative educational experience for participants in python programming, artificial intelligence, data analytics and multimedia design.
On this week's episode of ECCB Connects, Senior Project Specialist at the ECCB, Sybil Welsh, shares insights on the vision of the camp, previous camps and what is expected for participants this year. She says the vision is part of the ECCB's transformation agenda to equip youth with the necessary tools, skills and opportunities to prepare them for the world of work.
Welsh explains over 200 students from three countries participated in the inaugural pilot camp in 2024 and 16 chatbots were produced. In 2025, 387 students from seven countries participated in the camp and 21 chatbots were produced, showing a marked increase in the growth of this initiative.

According to Welsh, this year's camp, unlike previous camps, not only features real clients and access to certification, but a hybrid component for those who cannot attend in person.
