Congressman Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) is hiring an Artificial Intelligence Policy Fellow for his Washington office. The paid position will support his work on emerging technology and national security.
Artificial intelligence advances faster than standard legislative processes, spanning crucial areas such as national defense, trade and tax policies, economic growth, and U.S. competitiveness with China. As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, Congressman Moran has spearheaded legislative efforts in this field, co-authoring the AI Kill Switch Act with Rep. Ted Lieu (CA-36), advancing the AI Incident Reporting Act, and leading other AI-related policy initiatives. Maintaining effective oversight of these evolving systems requires a dedicated expert focused entirely on tracking AI developments.
"I recognize both the risks and rewards of AI, and I'm confident we can simultaneously solve any potential problems while accelerating the benefits. Safety and innovation are not mutually exclusive. And, we seek to achieve both by being a trusted policy partner to all stakeholders who also seek thoughtful, well-reasoned and fact-based AI policies that are beneficial to the personal, economic, and national security interests of the United States and its citizens. To do this, we need to commit the resources and personnel to get the policy right for this ever-evolving technology," said Congressman Moran. "This moment of innovation demands serious attention and bold action, and I am seeking someone who shares that same conviction and dedication."
The AI Policy Fellow will:
Research AI capabilities and risks
Track AI-related legislation and hearings
Prepare the Congressman for engagement with think tanks, industry leaders, academia, and federal agencies
Candidates with experience in AI, policy research, or national security are encouraged to apply. Eligibility depends on experience. Applicants should send a one-page resume and a one-page, single-spaced cover letter as PDF attachments to [email protected]. Additional materials may be requested.
