District 5 Commissioner Andrea Cooke is calling on residents to roll up their sleeves and help make Macon-Bibb County cleaner, one street at a time!
On Saturday, November 21, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., Commissioner Cooke will lead a community cleanup along Montpelier Avenue, from Pio Nono Avenue to Mercer University Drive, as part of an effort to encourage residents to take pride in their neighborhoods and help keep our streets clean.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the intersection of Montpelier Avenue and Pansy Avenue to check in and receive cleanup materials and gear before heading out.
But Commissioner Cooke wants this effort to go beyond District 5! She's challenging her fellow Commissioners, neighborhood organizations, and residents across Macon-Bibb County to organize cleanups in their own districts and communities.
"Keeping Macon-Bibb clean is something we can all take part in," said Commissioner Cooke. "I'm challenging my fellow Commissioners and neighbors across our community to get involved, pick a street, and make a difference. Imagine the impact we could have if every district came together to clean up our neighborhoods."
The cleanup is an opportunity for residents to work together, connect with their neighbors, and make a visible difference in the places they call home. Whether it's picking up litter along a roadway or organizing a cleanup in their own neighborhood, every effort helps create a cleaner Macon-Bibb County.
Everyone is encouraged to participate! Just show up ready to help and be part of the effort to keep our community clean.
