Sonoma County - Caltrans will close lanes at night on the State Route 116/121 Roundabout in Schellville, Sonoma County, to allow work crews to pave traffic lanes.
The closures will occur from 8:30 PM - 5:30 AM, Monday - Thursday, September 22 - 25. (To clarify, the first shift begins Monday night and ends Tuesday morning; the last shift will begin Thursday night and end Friday morning. There will be no closure on Friday night.)
Caltrans will employ flaggers to guide the traffic around the closed lanes. A short detour may be necessary for northbound Route 121 traffic for one evening, but flaggers will assist motorists, and the detour will be well-signed.
Caltrans is nearly finished with its project to build a roundabout at the intersection of Route 116 and Route 121, an intersection formerly controlled by four stop signs.
The new roundabout has been open for nine-months in its temporary configuration and has already led to smoother traffic operations and reduced congestion.
Recently, Caltrans has widened the temporary roundabout to its final configuration.
The completed roundabout will further reduce traffic congestion and decrease the frequency and severity of collisions.
