ICYMI: DNC, DGA, DLCC, Democratic State Parties Host Press Call Taking a Victory Lap After Sweeping Democratic Election Wins Arrow

Today, DNC Chair Ken Martin held a press call alongside DGA Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper, DLCC President Heather Williams, Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chair Eugene DePasquale, and California Democratic Party Chair Rusty Hicks to tout Democrats' sweeping victories and overperformances during last night's elections. Democrats ran strong, winning campaigns laser-focused on issues that matter most to everyday Americans: affordability and kitchen table issues.

In every corner of the country, from Virginia to California to Maine to Georgia and beyond, voters delivered a deafening rejection of Donald Trump and Republicans' losing agenda and elected strong Democratic leaders who will fight to lower costs and make life more affordable for working families.

Last night's results proved what we already knew: Democrats have the upper hand going into the 2026 midterms. We have momentum on our side and a winning playbook and message that we'll use to kick Republicans out of power and build Democratic power across the board.

Find highlights of the call below:

"We organized everywhere, we competed everywhere, and we won everywhere. We invested over $6 million into the coordinated campaigns in New Jersey and Virginia, in the three state Supreme Court races in Pennsylvania, and in the Mississippi State legislative races. We also leveraged our volunteer base. The DNC volunteers made more than 115,000 calls to voters in New Jersey to get out the vote in the final weeks. DNC volunteers made more than 228,000 calls to voters in Virginia ahead of Election Day to get out the vote. Our volunteers made more than 133,000 calls into Pennsylvania to get out the vote," said DNC Chair Ken Martin. "The Democratic Party is all gas, no brakes. We're not going to slow down now. And to all the Republicans who have bowed a cowardly knee to Trump all year while screwing over families, consider this: We're coming after your jobs next. We're going to keep building the long-term political infrastructure needed to elect majorities everywhere, at all levels of government. … This DNC is going to focus up and down the ballot, from municipal offices all the way up to federal offices. This new DNC is going to organize everywhere so we can win anywhere."

"These were landslides that are giving Democrats momentum and showing the path forward for the party. So right now, reporting shows that Abigail Spanberger's 15-point win was larger than we won Virginia in 2017 during Trump's first term. Mikie Sherrill's 13-point win is a huge margin of victory in New Jersey. In Virginia, nearly every single county voted more Democrat than it did in 2024, and in New Jersey, all 21 counties shifted in favor of Democrats compared to last year," said DGA Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper. "We dominated with women. Turnout in Democratic base areas was through the roof. We had huge gains with young men. We had huge gains with voters without college degrees, and Latino voters swung heavily in our favor in these two states."

"We've been working all year to build power, to build strong strategies and campaigns, and ensuring that our candidates in all of these local races, in every election, this year, and especially yesterday, we're able to communicate directly to voters in authentic ways on the issue of affordability, meet voters where they were and tell the story of Democrats up and down the ballot," said DLCC President Heather Williams. "It cannot be understated how monumental it was that we swept nearly every target on our map. We created historic majorities in both Virginia and New Jersey, and I think without question, last night reaffirmed that voters both rebuke GOP extremism and also see Democrats as the path forward around affordability and real authentic connection."

"Democrats and California Democrats, in particular, showed up and showed out last night, and will carry that energy into 2026. Really, what was a bit improbable 10 weeks ago, resulted in a 2-1 victory last night with the passage of Proposition 50, where we won independents by eight points, overwhelming turnout amongst young voters … But collectively, the campaign came together and showed the power of a simple measure with a simple message: long-term investments and on-the-ground organizing and the power of hard work," said California Democratic Party Chair Rusty Hicks. "We know that our work is going to continue and has already started. We've now got to get about the work of winning at least 48 congressional seats, retaking the House of Representatives, and cutting Donald Trump's term in half, ensuring that he is the lamest of lame ducks in our nation's history, and that's exactly what we plan to do."

"Pennsylvania voters across the state, literally in every single nook and cranny of our state, rejected the chaos, extremism, divisiveness of Donald Trump yesterday. That is certainly something that happened, but we also defeated a mag, a billionaire named Jeff Yass," said Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chair Eugene DePasquale. "Bucks County, we defeated an incumbent district attorney by nearly 10 points. A pro-Trump, pro-ICE sheriff, who even went behind the back of a Republican county commissioner in Bucks County, was defeated by a Democrat by nearly 10 points. … We had a Republican county executive on the ballot, a Democratic challenger. She won by nearly 30 points. … Dauphin County, where the incumbent District Attorney Republican was running for a county judge seat, we beat that guy by nearly 10,000 votes, electing the first-ever black woman to the bench in the history of Dauphin County. …[We] won a democratic bench seat in Clearfield County, a county Trump won by about 72 points. … So it was a great night for Pennsylvania Democrats. We defeated the extremism and chaos of Donald Trump. We ran on Pennsylvania solutions to Pennsylvania problems, and defeated MAGA billionaire Jeff Yass."
